How to Develop a Roll of Film
Step into the black room
Pop the cap off the film canister.
Unroll the film,
Then cut both ends.
Carefully slip the film on the reel
Slowly begin to twist the sides
So that the film rolls up
When all rolled up, put reel in the tank.
With a tight seal on the tank,
Step out into the light.
First add developer
And shake for five minutes.
Shake
Shake
Shake
Rinse the film,
While still in the tank.
For about a minute.
Next pour the fixer,
And check it with the drops
Just one or two will do.
Pour the fixer into the tank
Take the temperature
And mix depending on the temp.
Shake between five and nine minutes
Should be about right.
Shake
Shake
Shake
Rinse the film,
While still in the tank.
For about a minute.
Remove the reel from tank,
Carefully remove film from reel.
Trying not to touch the top of the film,
Hand wash the film.
Finally check to see if the pictures showed up,
Then hang to dry.
And now your ready to develop the pictures.

Julanne,
Your poem gives a sense of the patience and the precision that is involved in developing film. I liked how you were particular to mention the exact number of minutes it takes for each step. I also liked the "shake, shake, shake" bit which gave a shape to the poem and slowed down the pace (which is important-- to indicate how the process takes time.)
