Photography is my Communication

A. I would say that one of my biggest strengths as a communicator would be that I’m not afraid to say what I’m thinking, and I like to express the ideas I have. Also a lot of people feel very comfortable with me as a photographer. I do free lance photography, and that includes portrait, and almost all of my friends will come to me when they a family photo done, or if they just want private pictures. I think photography is a very strong trait of me as a communicator. As far as having a conversation with someone and being able to talk with people, I would say that I like to talk, and I can carry on a long conversation with someone if the topic is of my interest, and I feel to have something in common with the other person. Probably the only time I don’t like to talk is when I’m feeling uncomfortable around a crowd of people I don’t know, or when I have to do a speech in front of a classroom. When it comes to talking my vocabulary is good, but I know it could be improved. In high school I studied vocabulary and some of the words I remember very well unlike others that I have no idea as to what they mean. In my family everyone is the listener, there is really no one that you can’t talk to, but I think the biggest listener in my family would be my mom. As far as visuals go, the only visual arrangements I am good at would be photography. I’m not a very creative person that can put different things together to make them look good, so I just stick to my camera. Another area that I’m not so good in would definitely be writing. I have really good ideas in my head, but when it comes down to putting them on paper, they just don’t sound like I had planned. So overall I would so my communication is good, but there is always room for improvement for everyone.

B. Becoming what I am today is hard to imagine. I never thought I would love photography so much. Today photography is my greatest passion, and I would never give it up for anything. I think the person that influenced me the most was my high school photography teacher. Since the first roll of film I developed she always was obsessed with the work I created. She was always very encouraging and very supportive; she even gave me special assignments and always gave me new ideas to try. Another person who probably influenced my photography was Ansel Adams. Adams was an amazing photographer and I also share the same interest in landscape photography as he did. Ansel Adams was probably one of the most amazing photographers ever, and I plan on following his work while adding a little bit of my own into the pictures. Below is one of my favorite pieces of Ansel Adams, I like this picture because the background really brings out the texture of the rose, also the rose is a perfect stage to be shot. This picture is one of the reasons as to why I decided to take mostly landscape and still life photos.
